Why this site exists
Almost every piercing guide online is published by a jewelry store, a studio chain or a brand. Their advice is shaped by what they sell. Best Piercing is independent: we do not own a studio, we do not sell jewelry, and we do not accept payment for placement or recommendations.
How we work
- Every guide lists its sources and the date it was last updated.
- We are recruiting named piercer authors and a licensed medical reviewer. Until they are in place, articles carry no author or medical-review credit rather than a stand-in one.
- We cite primary sources: the Association of Professional Piercers, the American Academy of Dermatology, peer-reviewed research.
- Photos are of real piercings and real jewelry. Diagrams are drawn for this site.
- Prices are typical US studio ranges, dated on every page, and worth confirming with the studio you choose.
How we are funded
Display advertising and affiliate links (marked, and explained in our affiliate disclosure). Recommendations are made before any commercial relationship is considered and are never changed because of one.
